The aim of this course is to build the foundations for engineering graduates to secure jobs in data and finance industries. The targeted jobs are data science, data analytics and quantitative finance. The focus of the course is on software and analytical skills. Many senior professionals who are currently working in the financial services industry will be invited as guest lecturers. We have already invited professionals from Scotiabank, RBC, Canada Pension Plan, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, BMO and IBM, and will invite more as our network grows. Different course subjects will be taught by these individuals. At the end of the course, a professional recruiting company that is specialized in the financial services industry will help students secure internships and jobs. Some of our invited lectures will also train students with interview skills.
This course is offered in two different streams. Stream 1 is mainly for students with undergraduate degrees. Stream 2 is meant for students who have graduate degrees (Master/PhD) and have better background in computer programming. Steam 2 students should take around 120 hours of training, whereas Stream 1 students can take less hours of training. Students in both streams can customize their training, depending on the targeted job that they choose. For detailed syllabus click here.
Most lectures are on evenings between 6pm to 8pm. There might be few lectures on the weekends as well.
